Comments: This genus is concentrated in the dry western and southern parts of South Africa and Namibia. It has many unusual characteristics, including twisted or hairy leaves, unusual sweet-smelling fruit that look like tiny sausages or bananas, and a growth pattern that features flowers in the middle of the "dormant" season.
