Comments: The species name is derived from the famous plant collector, and the first curator of Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden, the late Dr. Hans Herre (1925-1962). Dr. Herre was well known for collecting succulents in the Namaqualand and Richtersveld areas of South Africa as well as Namibia.
