Habitat: Elgin Shale Fynbos, Breede Shale Fynbos: Shale-sandstone transition areas at about 500 m.
National red list: Critically Endangered
Life form: Succulent plant
Comments: This species was recently rediscovered in Tulbagh, after it was lasst collected in 1913 and thought to be extinct. It is still under extreme threat from extensive habitat loss to vineyard and fruit orchard cultivation. It is currently known from an area of smaller than 10 km². Habitat quality at the only known location is being degraded by alien plant invasion, the the site is earmarked for holiday accommodation development.
