Taxon

Indigofera psoraloides

.
.
Common name: Clay indigo
Family: Fabaceae (Pea)
Distribution: Tulbagh to the Cape Peninsula and Gordon's Bay
Habitat: Lowland renosterveld
National red list: Endangered
Life form: Perennial plant
Comments: This species’ ability to resprout from buds below the soil surface is an adaptation to veld fires, a natural component of Cape ecosystems. From winter to early summer, it carries red to purple flowers. Unfortunately, most of its habitat is already lost and remaining populations are becoming increasingly isolated from each other.
