Comments: Although this plant is a popular houseplant both as a species and as a parent of certain hybrids, in its natural habitat it is not common at all. It is threatened according to the IUCN Red List as a result of overharvesting, urban expansion and human recreational activities. There has also been some introduction of horticultural varieties into S. truncata's natural habitat.
