Comments: Pearl millet is the most widely grown type of millet. The center of diversity, and likely area of domestication is in the Sahel of West Africa with archaeobotanical research has confirming pearl millet in northern Mali by between 2500 and 2000 BC. It has been widely grown in Africa and the Indian subcontinent since prehistoric times.
