Comments: Spotted on a roadside by Jannie Groenewald in 2019, this was confirmed as a new species by taxnomic specialist and Stellenbosch University postgraduate student Brian de Preez and published in a monograph of the genus in the South African Journal of Botany in 2021. The species is still only known from 4 plants at a single site, and will likely be considered Critically Endangered.
