Taxon

Streptocarpus rexii

.
.
Family: Gesneriaceae (Gesneriad)
Distribution: Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal
Habitat: Forests, coastal cliffs and hills
National red list: Least Concern
Life form: Herbaceous perennial
Comments: S. rexii was the first South African Streptocarpus cultivated at KEW in 1827! In the wild, it has a wide distribution range, from George in the Western Cape to the southernmost part of KZN. While a species of Least Concern, its very specific distribution makes it vulnerable to disturbance and change.
