Comments: Found within grasslands in mountainous areas and requires soils with good drainage. When established it is extremely drought tolerant. The hairiness which occurs over the entire plant probably inhibits desiccation. The vibrant magenta-red flowers attract bird pollinators such as hummingbirds.
