Sparaxis grandiflora subsp. actutiloba
.
Family: Iridaceae (Iris)

IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
National red list: Vulnerable

Comments: This is one of four subspecies of Sparaxis grandiflora. This species with its bright yellow flowers seem to be particularly popular in horticultural circles, compared to the other subspecies. It grows in the Olifants River Valley and flowers in spring. As a range-restricted species which is also threatened by habitat transformation for crop cultivation, this Cape bulb is now considered a vulnerable species.
