Habitat: Thicket and rocky areas. Sand Forest.
National red list: Least Concern
Comments: Multiple bulb offsets produce a striking coppery green mass above the ground. According to Pooley (1998), it is used in traditional medicine for healing bone fractures and as a protective charm. The species is found in KwaZulu Natal and Mpumalanga in South Africa but also extends northward beyond our borders (redlist.sanbi.org)
