Taxon

Protea scorzonerifolia

.
.
Common name: Channel-leaf Sugarbush
Family: Proteaceae (Protea)
Distribution: Western Cape
Habitat: Fynbos
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
National red list: Vulnerable
Life form: Perennial plant
Comments: A population reduction of at least 30% is estimated based on habitat loss due to urban expansion, agriculture and afforestation in the past 100 years (generation length >100 years). Remaining subpopulations occur in sheltered sites, but it is possible that this species was formerly much more common on the now highly transformed lowlands. It continues to be threatened by alien plant invasion, mining and overgrazing.
