Gibbaeum album

.
.
Common name: volstruistoonvygie
Family: Aizoaceae (Vygie)
Distribution: Northern slopes of the Langeberg Mountains near Barrydale, Western Cape
Habitat: Little Karoo Quartz Vygieveld, White quartz patches overlaying clay slopes.
National red list: Critically Endangered
Life form: Succulent plant
Comments: G. albus is a very remarkable plant with near-white and angular leaves, clearly mimicing the quartz pebbles it is found amongst. Sadly, this novelty is part of its downfall, as it is often poached for horticultural use and is also threatened by livestock and road construction.
