Comments: TThis widespread species has fleshy, succulent stems with a slightly knobby appearance. It survives the dry summer months by dropping its leaves to conserve water and energy. It is very widespread, occurring in arid sandy areas from the Cape Peninsula to the Richtersveld. Its small flowers are pollinated by bees, wasps and bee flies.
