Taxon

Clivia robusta

.
.
Common name: Clivia
Family: Amaryllidaceae (Amaryllis)
Distribution: Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal
National red list: Vulnerable
Comments: There has been an estimated decline of 30% in the last 90 years (three generations) due to harvesting for the medicinal plant trade. Traders do not distinguish between Clivia species and all species are therefore at risk of over-exploitation. Little is known about the pollinators of Clivia and studies are now being undertaken to discover what pollinates it.
