Comments: A very widespread Soutern African bulb that grows on a wide variety of soils and habitats. It looks similar to Tulbaghia capensis, but its floral lobes are completely fused. T. alliacea has several recorded uses in South Africa, including culinary and medicinal. The leaves have been recorded to be used as a herb in cooking. Medicinally it has been used to treat fits, fevers, rheumatism and paralysis.
