Comments: A very widespread species in the Cape Floristic Region, occurring from Piketberg to the Peninsula to Mossel Bay. It is also very common across its distribution. This species is very rarely seen in flower as it usually only flowers after fire. Since it rarely flowers, it is often noted for its distinguishable leaves which are fringed with brown bristles. After flowering, the flowering head dries out, breaks off the plant and the wind blows this spherical head around which then drops its seeds wherever it goes.
