.
.
Common name: Kanniedood, Eikeblaarkanniedood, Oak-leaved commiphora, Oak-leaved corkwood, Omumbiri, Herare, Oshiziwowo
Family: Burseraceae (Frankincense)
Distribution: Namibia
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
Comments: This shrub produces a resin used traditionally by the women of the Himba tribe. They make both a dry powdered perfume as well as a mixture with ochre with butterfat. The fragrance of the resin permeates the ochre and animal fat mixture so that when it is rubbed on the skin, it has a pleasant smell. Himba women use it daily.
