Pelargonium gibbosum

.
.
Common name: dikbeenmalva, malva, gouty geranium, arthritic pelargonium
Family: Geraniaceae (Geranium)
Distribution: Western Cape, Northern Cape
Habitat: Rocky outcrops
National red list: Least Concern
Life form: Herbaceous perennial
Comments: Unusually for a Pelargonium, this species is a scrambling shrub. It has conspicuously swollen internodes which has earned the plant its common names of gouty pelargonium or arthritic pelargonium. Its greenish-yellow flowers are night-scented. It is widepsread from the Cape Peninsula to the Richtersveld, where it grows on rocky outcrops near the coast.
