Taxon

Platycerium superbum

.
.
Common name: Takbokvaring, Staghorn fern
Family: Polypodiaceae
Distribution: Australia
IUCN Red list: Not evaluated
Comments: These ferns develop a "nest" of non-fertile fronds, and in doing so can grow up to 1m wide. The ferns also develop hanging, fertile fronds that can become 2m long. Both fertile and non-fertile fronds are broad and branching and grow to resemble the horns of a stag or elk, thus the common names staghorn or elk fern.
