Comments: This species only occurs on sheer, inaccessible rocky cliffs in a very small area in the Baviaanskloof. This range-restricted habitat specialist is not threatened, but is very rare. The species was first collected by a Mr Marais on cliffs adjacent to the Kouga Dam. Its species name, “pictifolia”, means “painted leaves” and refers to the ornamental white spots on its leaves
