.
Common name: Pantoffelorgideë, Lady's slipper
Family: Orchidaceae (Orchid)
Distribution: Central and South America

Comments: Phragmipedium x Sedenii is an intersectional hybrid of the large P. longifolium from Costa Rica and Ecuador, and P. schlimii from Colombia. Inflorescences produce 1-2 flowers at a time, and up to 7 flowers on 1-4 branches over several months. Wild Phragmipediums are terrestrial, lithophytic or rarely epiphytic, generally growing on steep cliffs in leaf litter and moss in moist situations. Many have been severely impacted by illegal and unsustainable wild collecting, and are Red Listed Endangered or Critically Endangered as a result.
