Comments: This species is grown as a garden ornamental across SA, but has escaped cultivation and become invasive in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo. However, its sterile cultivars and hybrids are not invasive and can be cultivated. This species has also been used in traditional medicine to treat rheumatism and diabetes.
